Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: First Cast Pictures and the problem of change

ALL ABOARD THE POLEMIC TRAIN!!!

As many Harry Potter fans (such as myself) are pretty aware by now, our dreams have come true and the supreme goddess J.K. Rowling has presented us with another Harry Potter story! The 8th book entitled "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" will happen right after the epilogue scene we've seen, with tears in our eyes, at the end of "Deathly Hallows". Harry is now an auror at the Ministery of Magic and has 3 kids do deal with, and one of them, Albus, feels the pressure of having to carry on the family's name. The story will first be converted into a stage play that will debut on July 30th on London and into a book the day after (which is also Harry's birthday!)

When the play was first announced, it was revealed that the actress who was going to play Hermione (as well as her daughter with Ron) was going to be a black person, and now we finally got a first look at the characters:

The Potters

The Weasleys

The Malfoys

By taking a look at these pictures, you instantly have that feeling of "Wait, there's something wrong there", because for the first time, you're seeing your favourite characters from the little wizard's world played by different people. That's NORMAL. It is natural to the human body to resist to changes (especially if you're a fan. Fans HATE changes).

A clear example of that is currently taking place in China, where after the announcement of a Chinese Mandarin version of the upcoming games "Pokémon Sun & Moon", it was also announced that all the Pokémons would have their names changed (including the iconic Pikachu) to fit the language. That made fans freak out, leading to parades in the streets, claiming the old Pokémon's names back, only because they already had a story with those names, and all of their memories contained those names and they didn't wanted that to change.

Angry fans protesting against Pokémon's names changing, in Hong Kong

Amongst all the hate and love for the new "faces" of the characters, Hermione and her daughter Rose are the most discussed, after all, they changed not only their actresses, but their race too. Even though J.K. Rowling never specified anything in the books regarding Hermione's actual race, we all got used to her Emma Watson look from the movies. Rowling says that her being black, is a reflection of her position as a minority in the wizard world: a mudblood (someone who has magical powers but whose parents don't). Since in today's world everything is considered "offensive", most people have associated the Hermione polemic with racism issues (but of course, I am fully aware that in some cases, that is INDEED the problem) but what they have to understand is that some fans just don't like major changes in their favourite characters, which means, it doesn't matter, they could have make Hermione blonde, redhead, asian or whatever, the problem would be only the change.

Similiar cases have been also happening in the comic book world, where Captain America has now been revealed to be a double agent working in cooperation with Hydra (the nazi organization he had fought his entire life with) and the Joker's identity to be finally revealed, actually, sorta of: DC comics announced that there have been actually three different Jokers.

Why the PL is considered the europe toughest league?

Throughout the recent years we have been watching the rise of the most competitive league in the whole european football. The Premier League has been having different champions every year since the 2009-2010 season, including Manchester City and United, Chelsea and even Leicester City. Meanwhile in other leagues from europe we don't see a lot of different teams winning. For example, Juventus hasn't lost Serie A since 2011, and before that Inter had won it 5 times in a row!

Due to the Premier competitiveness it is nowadays the first choice of most players in the international scenario (with the exception of Real and Barça of course), it has been attracting a lot of money due to it's popularity and is the most well paid League in the world.

The only problem PL has is it's teams performances in the UEFA Champions League that have not benn so good these last years, with the exception of this season performance of Manchester Ciity wich granted the classification for the Tournament Semi-Finals against Real Madrid.

Leicester City's magical season!

Jamie Vardy, Leicester City's eternal legend

At the start of the season, Leicester's team wasn't even expected to be around 10th this season, in fact, many tought the squad wasn't going to play te BPL next year.

Leicester had an extraordinary campaing in 2015-2016 season, beating many powerful clubs, such as Manchester City, Everton and Tottenham, and as it wasn't enough, winning this season's Barclays Premier League.

The Foxes team performed so well that they had only 3 losses in the whole BPL, 2 against Arsenal and 1 against Liverpool.

The Blues top scorer of the season was the englishman Jamie Vardy, followed by Riyad Mahrez. Both were the team stars of the season, winning many prizes throughout the competition.

Besides being eliminated from both FA cup and Capital One cup, the team's campaing was so special that the players had their names given to the streets of Leicester City.

Batman: The Killing Joke Trailer IS OUT!

What is up everyone, today I will be talking a little on the (not so) brand-new trailer for the movie adaptation of the famous graphic novel, "Batman: The Killing Joke"

For those of you not familiar with the Cape Crusader's story, here's a quick summary: Bruce Wayne, only child of a millionaire family who witnessed a mugger kill his parents on Crime Alley, decided to fight crime and evil forces in Gotham City. Using his money and influence, Bruce spent his life training phisically and mentally to become a superhero, without superpowers. With the help of his reliable butler, Alfred, Bruce fights crime at night under the name of Batman.

"The Killing Joke", written by Alan Moore in 1988 is a one-shot graphic novel, very famous for its shocking moments (which caused the upcoming movie to be rated R) and mainly for presenting the origin stories for two of Batman most famous characters: The Joker and Oracle.

After being released from jail again, the Joker buys an abandoned theme park, shots Comissioner Gordon's daughter, Barbara and captures the cop to take him to his "Land of Terrors". The whole premiss of this evil plan is to atract Batman to the scene, and show him that "all it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to madness".

The upcoming production is a direct-to-dvd animated movie that features voice actors such as Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, who voiced the two arch-nemesis in both "Batman: The animated series" and Rocksteady's "Batman: Arkham" video-game series. As I said before, the movie will be rated "R" because of its explicit violence and mature content. The movie came as a surprise and relief for the Dark Knight's fans, which consider "The Killing Joke" to be one of the best and most important Batman graphic novels ever written.

"Batman: The Killing Joke" is being produced by WB Animation, in partnership with DC Comics and will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital HD summer this year. For more on the Batman universe, stay in the Man's Hut.
